We returned from India in April and headed to Remilly two weeks later to open up the house and take the chill out of the walls.
We made lots of fires in the fire place plus lay everything out in the courtyard between the house and the barn, to air out... and dry up the mildew. It was quite a spread. The insulation in the house has helped a lot to keep the humidity out. Much more liveable than last year! Thank you Regis!
The garden was wild... and the grass so high that no machine could deal with it. We actually watched it grow even taller and then flop over. Our first big no no. What a hassle to regain a semblance of lawn!!!!!! We're still not there. I doubt if we will ever be good "lawn people". I'm now dreaming of a varied "wild plant" garden, with little mounds and pathways through them. NO LAWN!
It was a pleasant summer... with a few visits.
We fixed up the guest room a bit more... with more changes to come:
